Reasons you recommend:  This is the well-known kendo bogu shop in the world. The owner of the shop is also well-known, Taro Ariga sensei (7th dan).  You cannot go wrong.

Only downside is that they have so many things to choose so the website can confuse beginners.

However, if you are a beginner and do not know what you should get, just talk to them.

Here is an email I sent to Mr. Taro Ariga, CEO, of e-bogu.com:

Dear Mr. Ariga,


I wanted to share an excellent customer service experience I had this weekend when I visited your store in Irvine. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was traveling to Los Angeles to spend time with my grandchildren over the weekend so I thought I'd add this to the list of places to visit.

I began Kendo training in July and was ready to purchase my first Bogu. I guess my timing was good because I had just received an email advertisement from e-bogu.com that the KEIRYO 3MM Kendo Bogu was on sale.

I was a bit anxious about making the purchase because I knew I needed a lot of assistance to obtain the proper sizes for not only the Bogu but also for a Hakama and Kendogi.

As I walked into the warehouse area I was greeted by one of your employees whose name was Alex. His polite and helpful demeanor was very reassuring and he quickly put me at ease with what we needed to do.

He answered all my questions and was extremely attentive to not only myself but also my wife who accompanied me to the store. Alex is a delightful young man and very knowledgeable about your products.

I can see that with employees like Alex why your business is so successful. You can be sure I will be a return customer as I value not only the quality of your products but also the quality of your customer service. Please give Alex a personal thank you from my wife and I.

 Product/s You Purchased: Kai Ibushi Shnai, Keikogi, Hakama


Rate the product/s: I have been buying the Kai Ibushi shinai for over a year as my basic go-to shinai. I am very pleased with them, they are very similar in size in weight, have a good balance, and are of high quality. I would give them a 5/5

I have bought the majority of my keikogi and hakama from e-bogu as well, everything from the basic single layer beginner set, up to the double layer and 10,000# hakama. I have been very happy with all of them. They are again of high quality, and are very durable, and have withstood years of abuse (ie: machine washing). Again I would give them a 5/5

 Rate the service: Service is excellent, one time I placed an order for 38 shinai by mistake, and they quickly exchanged them for 39 with no hassle 5/5 for service
