It's great that you have 5 years of Kendo experience under your belt! While it's unfortunate that you haven't been able to continue practicing Kendo due to the lack of a dojo in your new environment, exploring other martial arts can be a valuable and rewarding experience.

Karate is certainly a possibility, and many people find it to be an enriching martial art to practice. Although Kendo and Karate are different in terms of techniques, principles, and equipment, the discipline and focus you've developed from your Kendo practice could be beneficial in learning Karate.

Keep in mind that transitioning to a new martial art will come with its own challenges and learning curve, but your previous martial arts experience should help you adapt more easily. It's important to approach Karate with an open mind, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt to the new techniques and philosophies.

While it might not be the same as continuing your Kendo practice, trying out Karate could be an excellent opportunity for personal growth and development in martial arts. Give it a shot and see if it resonates with you!

I have been 5 years practice kendo then I am not doing kendo for 3 years.
Since in my new environment, there is not kendo dojo. Many people recommend me to practice karate, is it possible?

I’ve recently taken up Kendo and struggling more because of karate I would say.

I thought the stances would be similar but they are totally different.

There are habits and practices from karate that will be hard to shake off (presuming you’d want to, might make my karate weaker).

I do enjoy kendo and learning a new martial art but even some of the etiquette is different and both are Japanese!
